Roles and responsibilities: CHIEF Operations

CHIEF Ops is located in ECSM and is responsible for:

  • the maintenance and improvement of CHIEF data systems which support CFSP
  • allocating CHIEF ‘badges’ to traders upon written request from CFSP authorising officers via the CFSP UoE
  • checking EORI on DTR from the details provided on the PA1 form
  • via the PA1 or at the request of the CFSP UoE, applying appropriate flags to the EORI number on CHIEF, to specify which procedure(s) the trader is authorised to use
  • setting traders up in test mode and switching to live mode as requested by CFSP authorising officers via the CFSP UoE
  • providing assistance to local staff on CHIEF error messages
  • tracking and resending missing CFSP response messages (live or test) to CHIEF or the trade and
  • liaising with C&I and Cap Gemini regarding CHIEF service provision
