Pre-authorisation or approval controls and checklists for officers: Processing Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) applications

Applications for Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) must be initially processed by the AEO Central Site.

The central site will carry out the acceptance testing and validation of the application.

These checks will be supplemented by any necessary compliance checks and visiting officers’ referrals determined by the type of AEO status applied for.
These checks will be performed using the EU AEO Guidelines, supplemented by the UK AEO Guidance.

The checklists included in sections CAA09060 CAA09070 and CAA09130 CAA09160 are based upon the AEO guidelines and are aligned with the general principles and compliance standards of the above guidelines.

This will support maximum consistency of compliance tests and standards expected of applicants and support the objectives of the Code in aligning compliance standards across customs regimes and procedures with those expected of an AEO.
