Information on the Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement with Albania, replicating the effects of the EU-Albania Association Agreement.

UK-Albania Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement

The UK has signed a partnership, trade and cooperation agreement with Albania, which is in effect.

This guidance provides information on aspects of trade covered by that agreement. It is for UK businesses trading with Albania.

What the agreement covers

The agreement establishes a political and economic partnership between the UK and Albania, including a comprehensive free trade area. It maintains the effects of the EU-Albania Association Agreement.

The UK-Albania Agreement covers:

  • trade in goods - including provisions on preferential tariffs, tariff rate quotas and rules of origin
  • trade in services
  • intellectual property, including geographical indications
  • government procurement

The agreement strengthens UK cooperation in political, security and foreign matters with Albania and replicates wider elements of the EU-Albania Association Agreement such as provisions on political dialogue and other forms of cooperation, including human rights.
