The agreement can maintain the effects of the EU-Chile agreement if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

Tariffs and quotas
Because the UK has agreed continuity arrangements with Chile, trade could continue with minimal changes to tariffs and quotas when the UK leaves the EU.
The export licensing regulations for controlled goods will be affected.
Controlled goods include:
- military items
- dual-use items (items with both civil and military uses)
