Getting to the Embassy

By public transport

The AIA Building is directly next to Saint Louis station on the BTS, Silom line. Please follow the signs to the station’s Exit 2. The Embassy is easily accessible by taxi using the address above.

Parking

The AIA building has a large car park for visitors. Visitors to the Embassy will be given a ticket by the attendant at the car park’s ground level entrance. The first hour of visitor parking is free. Please visit the Embassy’s reception desk in the main lobby so your parking ticket can be stamped. After the first hour, each hour is 30 THB per car/ 10 THB per motorcycle. All visitors must keep their parking ticket with them and return it to the attendant when they leave the building, so they can be charged the appropriate fee.

Access to our offices

Security

British Embassy security procedures require that all visitors are searched before entering the premises. These measures are in place are for the benefit of visitors and staff. Please co-operate with the security team as they conduct their checks.

The following items are permitted in the public areas (such as a waiting room) but you will not be allowed to bring any them into the Embassy:

  • Electronic devices such as mobile phones, computer tablets, digital diaries, pagers, cameras, laptops, or portable music players.
  • Any oversize bags, including handbags, large back-packs, briefcases, or suitcases. These items will not be permitted into any area if they have not been appropriately searched by the security team.

Disabled access

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and the Embassy are keen to ensure that our buildings and services are fully accessible to disabled members of the public. Sometimes however, this is not possible due to security or other restrictions. In these situations we will always try to provide alternatives.

To assist all our visitors, we have set out below details of disabled access at the Embassy. We hope this information is helpful.

General physical access

Access to the Embassy offices is guided by security considerations and the current layout of access routes and facilities. However, we understand that some visitors have additional needs and we will do all we can to ensure we meet these.

Please note:

  • The Embassy is located in a high rise building and access to Consular is by a lift to the 11th Floor.
  • The main reception to the Embassy is in the lobby on the ground floor. It is accessible by wheel chair.
  • Parking can be provided for disabled visitors, please get in touch with the department you are visiting in advance to arrange access.
  • Floor coverings are generally safe and even.
  • Most main doors are easily accessible to all users.
  • Lighting is generally good.
  • Emergency/evacuation arrangements are in place to assist disabled visitors.
  • Telephone access is provided by the Consular Department at the Lobby reception.

Access for visually-impaired visitors

  • Signs are generally clear and easy to read;
  • Guide dogs are welcome.

Access for deaf or hard of hearing visitors

  • Hearing loops are not installed.
  • Minicom and textphones are not installed.
  • Staff do not use sign language - Thai sign language interpreters can be arranged - please get in touch with the department you are visiting in advance to make arrangements.
  • Hearing dogs are welcome.
