The UK promotes early democracy through empowering student unions in Fayoum

The British Embassy Cairo supports the training of students from Egyptian governmental experimental schools

On Thursday March 20th 2014, a ceremony was held at the Museum of Civilization at the Cairo Opera House for 20 students who have received training on student union development, leadership skills and democratic principles. With the support of the British Embassy in Cairo, the training was organized, over the last 3 months, and delivered by Intercultural Youth Dialogue Association (IYDA) in cooperation with Al Tareeq through non-formal education and using the civic education methodology. Methods such as experiential learning, role playing, brainstorming, small group work, interactive theatre, plenary discussions and presentations have been used in ways to ensure the diverse learning styles. The students associated their learning outputs at the closing ceremony with an impressive performance.
