British Embassy Skopje holds Service of Rembrance to honour those fallen in war and conflict.

On 9 November 2014 in Skopje we paid tribute to the ones who have lost their lives in war and military conflicts with a Service of Remembrance at the British Military Cemeteries in Skopje.

Our ambassador Charles Garrett and the defence attache Lt Col Richard Parry took part in the service along with members of the British community in Macedonia and diplomatic representatives in the country. Delegations also laid wreaths in remembrance of the fallen.

The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Defence of Macedonia Zoran Jolevski and senior representatives of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia who laid wreaths on behalf of the Macedonian armed forces.

Each year we hold this ceremony at the British Military Cemeteries in Skopje to remember those who have lost their lives in the World War I, as well as to remember the tragedy of all from any nationality, military and civilians who have fallen fighting for peace and freedom. There are 125 graves of soldiers of the British Army and the Commonwealth in Skopje.
