SSP Singh and SP Waqa leave for New Zealand next week to attend the Pacific Senior Police Leadership Programme

Two police officers, Senior Superintendent Shiri Bhawan Singh and Superintendent Eparama Waqa leave for New Zealand next week to attend the Pacific Senior Police Leadership Programme.

The course will be delivered by 2 instructors from the renowned UK College of Policing Bramshill and will be held at the New Zealand Police College in Porirua, Wellington funded by the British, Australian and New Zealand Governments.

Alongwith SSP Singh and Supt Waqa, other senior police officers from the region will also attend the programme. Their attendance has been sponsored by the British Government.

The aim and objective of the course is to provide an opportunity for Senior Police Leaders from across several police agencies to explore some key principles of strategic management and leadership, by linking current theory to practice, using case studies and delegates’ experiences. By the end of the two week course, delegates will be able to develop effective strategies and be able to build and lead more effective teams to achieve their business goals.

The course will cover the following key program themes:

  • Leadership and self;
  • Leading teams;
  • Leading and organisation;
  • Strategic positioning, planning and implementation;
  • Leading change;
  • Strategic Performance management to achieve business goals.

This course is the second to be held in New Zealand, in view of the success of the first course which was held in March last year.
