The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Peter Jones has praised the democratic credentials of Ghana following the Supreme Court ruling on the election petition. High Commissioner Peter Jones said:

“We welcome the fact that the Supreme Court has now ruled on the election following a thorough review of the evidence and according to due Constitutional process. We also welcome the statements indicating that all sides will respect the ruling. Ghana is becoming a model of democratic best practice. Electoral disputes handled through the appropriate legal channels can only strengthen Ghana’s strong reputation for democracy, peace and respect for the rule of law. The United Kingdom looks forward to continuing to work closely together with the Ghanaian Government and Ghanaian partners as we take forward our mutual agenda, including on promoting prosperity in both our countries, building on the deep and long-standing economic, political and people-to-people connections between us.”
