Her Majesty The Queen appointed The Rev Canon David Richardson, lately Representative of The Archbishop of Canterbury to the Holy See and Director of the Anglican Centre in Rome, Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2013 Birthday Honours List.

This honour has been awarded in recognition of Canon Richardson’s services to strengthening relations between the UK, the Anglican communion and the Holy See.

The British Ambassador to the Holy See, Nigel Baker, said:

This well-merited award reflects David Richardson’s many years of dedication to strengthening the network of interconnecting relationships between the United Kingdom, the Holy See, Lambeth Palace and the global Anglican communion that converge on Rome.

It is a reflection of how important those relationships are to Britain, but also of David’s tireless efforts to strengthen understanding and friendships between faiths and peoples.
