This year six Chileans were awarded the prestigious Chevening scholarship for one-year master’s studies in the UK. This year’s scholars are heading for London, Oxford, and Edinburgh to study a wide range of topics including environmental policy, healthcare, law, and telecommunications. As the academic year 2013-2014 will soon start, and the scholars are getting ready for their departures, the Embassy held a pre-departure briefing, to assure that all the arrangements are in order. Ambassador Jon Benjamin met with this newest generation of Chevening scholars, and wished them a successful year in the UK.

The Chevening programme began in 1983, and provides scholarships in 116 countries. This year the programme will support approximately 700 individuals. There are over 41,000 Chevening alumni around the world, including over 200 in Chile. The Chevening alumni have become an influential and highly regarded global network world-wide.
