Last Friday, 7th November, the British Embassy Quito organised its 6th annual “Ambassador’s Cup 2014” golf tournament at the Quito Tennis & Golf Club – El Condado in Quito. For the second year in a row, the tournament had the support of golf’s governing body, the R&A Golf Club of St. Andrews, who also gave prizes for the players.

This tournament is a tradition for the British Embassy Quito, and it has become an opportunity to spread and share the virtues of one of the UK’s most traditional sports with the various companies that have ties with Ecuador. Through a raffle sale, funds were raised to support the work of the SCOUT movement in Ecuador. The winners received a roundtrip to London and the chance to attend a West Ham United football match, where the Ecuadorian player Enner Valencia stars, a tour to the Galapagos Islands and a lunch certificate for two at Restaurante Sur Campestre. The 17 teams enjoyed a beautiful morning of competition and fun. In the end, the Help One team won the Cup with a final score of 121. BDO and the British School took second and third place with 122 and 125 shots respectively.
