About the local pinch point fund

In the Budget 2018 government announced a competitive fund for local authorities to bid for high-impact schemes to help address congestion and to reduce congestion on local roads.

This local pinch point fund builds on the previous funds that took place between 2013 and 2015 and which comprised 5 tranches in total. A total of 112 local pinch point fund projects received £262 million of government funding in those years. A further £150 million of funding is available in 2021 to 2022 and 2022 to 2023.
