This publication explains the purpose and procedure for the 18 to 20 weeks ultrasound scan.

The document, for parents to read before a scan, explains:

  • what the scan is for
  • whether the mother will need to return for another scan
  • what will happen in the scan room
  • what will happen if a problem is found

Fill out slip

After the scan, the ultrasound practitioner should use the form at the bottom of the leaflet to inform parents about how the scan went.
