Forensic Information Databases Strategy Board

The Forensic Information Databases Strategy Board provides governance and oversight over the operation of the National DNA Database (NDNAD) and the National Fingerprint Database (IDENT1).

The Forensic Information Databases Strategy Board comprises representatives of the:

  • National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC)
  • Home Office
  • Association of Police and Crime Commissioners
  • Biometrics and Forensics Ethics Group
  • Forensic Science Regulator
  • Information Commissioner’s Office
  • Biometrics Commissioner
  • Scottish Biometrics Commissioner
  • police and devolved administrations of Scotland and Northern Ireland

Other members may also be invited.

Chair

Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs of Thames Valley Police is the current chair of the Forensic Information Databases Strategy Board on behalf of the NPCC. He is also the national lead for Hostage and Crisis Negotiation, having been a negotiator for 8 years. Ben is a Strategic Firearms Commander, Counter Terrorism (CT) Commander and member of the national cadre of Chief Officers who assume overall tactical command for resolving CT incidents.
