Details

The study aimed to understand, through surveys and modelling, how toll levels influence travel when there is an option between a tolled and non-tolled route.

The study used a large number (35,000) of revealed and stated preference surveys and conducted an analysis of:

  • travel demand
  • willingness to pay
  • toll road utilisation

The M6 toll road north of Birmingham opened in 2004.
