This statistical data set provides a monthly count of lone parent Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) claimants in Great Britain between April 2005 and February 2014.

These monthly claimant count figures are broken down by:

  • age of youngest child
  • gender
  • age
  • ethnic group
  • region

The main points from the latest release are:

  • there were 120,510 JSA lone parent claimants at February 2014, a decrease of 38,065 from February 2013
  • in February 2014, 107,560 JSA lone parents were female and 12,950 male
  • where their ethnicity was known, 78% of JSA lone parents were white in February 2014
