This statistical data set provides a monthly count of lone parent Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) claimants in Great Britain between April 2005 to February 2015.

These monthly claimant count figures are broken down by:

  • age of youngest child
  • gender
  • age
  • ethnic group
  • region

The main points from the latest release are:

  • there were 83,650 JSA lone parent claimants at February 2015, a decrease of 36,860 (31%) from February 2014
  • in February 2015, 74,580 (89%) JSA lone parents were female and 9,075 (11%) were male
  • where their ethnicity was known, 76% of JSA lone parents were white in February 2015
