An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Wooton Marsh Farms Limited. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Babingley between National Grid References (NGR):

  • TF 63992 27198 to TF 62751 24851

And at two points on the Pinchcut Drain between NGR:

  • TF 64071 25522 to TF 64198 25673
  • TF 63234 24732 to TF 63660 24819

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates and periods:

  • 160 cubic metres an hour
  • 3,273 cubic metres a day
  • 25,500 cubic metres a year

Between April and October inclusive each year.

The water will be used for spray irrigation. The abstraction will be subject to a minimum required flow being passed in the stream before abstraction can take place, along with a level condition on abstraction from the Pinchcut Drain to protect downstream abstractors.
