National Immunisation Network 2026

UKHSA’s 13th National Immunisation Network (NIN26) training conference will be hosted on 9 and 10 June at the Park Plaza Hotel, Victoria, London. There will be a focus on current and emerging scientific issues in immunisation and implementation issues relating to the national immunisation programme.

Immunisation is one of the most important ways we protect what matters most – our families, our communities, and ourselves. It starts close to home: in GP practices and clinics, in schools and pharmacies, in conversations built on trust.

The National Immunisation Network Conference brings us together in our professional home – a space to share learning, celebrate progress, and tackle challenges collectively. This year’s theme, Home, reflects the vital role of local delivery, community relationships, and a supported workforce in achieving high and equitable vaccine uptake across the life course.

Together, we will explore how immunisation protects people at every stage of life, how locally delivered services strengthen national programmes, and how we can ensure no community is left behind.

Get ready for a programme that spotlights cutting edge, data-driven advances in vaccines across the life course and the far-reaching impact they have on economies and societies wherever you call home. Experts from across the field will bring the latest data and scientific insights to life, sharing how they’re powering improvements to the national programme and revealing standout discoveries in vaccine evaluation, rollout, and uptake across the UK.

• day 1 has a strong scientific focus and will include hot topic sessions on vaccine development, programme expansions and the future of the national routine and non-routine vaccination programmes
• day 2 has an operational and implementation focus and will include sessions on outbreak response, routine immunisation rollout and will feature the annual poster competition winners

The NIN26 is an essential face-to-face training and professional development meeting provided to bring together the UKHSA National Immunisation team, with colleagues from across the immunisation landscape who work on all aspects of commissioning and delivering the programmes. This includes key stakeholders and NHS service providers including vaccination teams, SAIS teams, practice staff, midwives, pharmacists, and others involved in delivering immunisation programmes. This event is especially important for all those involved in implementing strategies to improve uptake, address health inequalities and maintain and improve immunisation uptake rates in all settings.

Poster competition

Following on from the success of the poster competition in 2025 we once again invite anyone to submit a scientific poster to our expert panel for a chance to be on display at the NIN conference and to be voted on by all of our delegates.

A prize is awarded to the team with the winning poster and also the clinical panel’s choice. Free places to NIN27 are awarded to the audience’s favourite.

You can submit a poster on any aspect of your practice, scientific, or epidemiological but you may wish to also consider possible themes relating to this year’s conference theme: Home!

Please note that we are unable to accept any poster submissions authored by or on behalf of commercial industry.

If you’re not quite ready to submit a scientific poster may we suggest that you consider submitting a magazine-style article for the ‘How We Did It!’ section of Vaccine Update. Submissions are open all year round and articles vary from 300 to 750 words. For more details or to submit an article email: immunisation.website@ukhsa.gov.uk.

Terms and conditions

All posters submitted must contain advice and guidance in line with the national programme guidance. The expert panel reserves the right to suggest amendments to posters after the submission is received.

The submission form will close at 18:30 on 22 May 2026, no submissions will be accepted after this date and time. This will allow time for the expert panel to review all submissions and contact shortlisted submitters, as well as for the professional printing of the shortlisted posters.

Winners will be announced on day 2, 10 June 2026 during the final sessions of the day. We are unable to provide more than one printed poster.

Reconstitution of MMRV vaccine

An article was published in the February 2026 edition of Vaccine Update to draw vaccinators’ attention to the fact that, in some cases, the Priorix-Tetra® MMRV vaccine has been administered without being reconstituted. This article is being republished now to remind vaccinators of the importance of reconstituting the MMRV vaccines and to draw attention to the Direct Healthcare Professional Communication letter recently published by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the manufacturer of Priorix-Tetra®, about this error and the steps needed to ensure it does not occur. It will also be provided on the ImmForm website and distributed with each pack of Priorix-Tetra® ordered.

One of the main reasons given for this error has been reported to be due to the way the vaccines are set out in the box, with vaccinators unaware that the protective cardboard covering from inside the multi-pack 10-dose carton needs to be lifted and removed to expose the vials containing the lyophilised (freeze-dried) vaccine powder. This has resulted in failure to reconstitute the product as directed as being required in the manufacturer’s SPC, MMRV training slideset and UKHSA healthcare practitioner guidance, and only the diluent (water for injections) in the pre-filled syringe being administered. This means that the vaccine recipient will not be protected against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella and a further injection of properly reconstituted MMRV vaccine will need to be given.

Before giving the Priorix-Tetra® MMRV vaccine, please could you ensure that all internal cardboard protective covering is fully removed so that both the pre-filled syringes containing diluent and the lyophilised vaccine vials are clearly visible. Please could you also check that your colleagues are aware of this issue so that further errors can be prevented. As a reminder, before giving any new vaccine, all vaccinators should familiarise themselves with the packaging, preparation and recommendations for administration.

The 10-dose pack of Priorix-Tetra® vaccine supplied by UKHSA contains 10 single-dose vials of vaccine powder, 10 pre-filled syringes of diluent and one patient information leaflet (PIL). Each 10-dose pack of Priorix-Tetra® vaccine will be delivered with a pad of 10 additional PILs. Packs of Priorix-Tetra® vaccine do not contain needles for administration.

ProQuad® MMRV vaccine also requires reconstitution. It is being supplied by UKHSA in single-dose packs containing one vial of powder, one pre-filled syringe containing solvent and 2 unattached needles.

Where an MMRV immunisation error has occurred, MMRV information for healthcare practitioners is available. Any errors should also be reported to the local Screening and Immunisation Team.

Vaccine supply: routine vaccination programme

Expansion of older adult respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine eligibility

Since 1 April 2026, the eligibility criteria for the older adult RSV vaccination programme have changed to allow people aged 80 years and over, and all residents in care homes for older adults, to receive the RSV vaccine on the NHS. Details can be found here.

The pack of Abrysvo® vaccine that is used in the RSV vaccination programme is larger than other vaccine packs. Please ensure you have enough fridge capacity before placing any orders, as returns cannot be accepted.

A high-level ordering control is in place to reduce the risk of ordering errors only. This is not intended to restrict activity.

For Scottish customers, an additional control is in place to manage the number of pallets of vaccine in the supply chain on a given day.

Vaccines for the 2025/26 children’s flu programme supplied by UKHSA

Vaccines for the 2025/26 children’s flu programme are no longer available to order from ImmForm.

All batches of 2025/26 Fluenz® (LAIV) have now expired.

All doses of the cell-based inactivated influenza vaccine (IIVc) supplied by UKHSA for the 2025/26 children’s flu programme will expire on 31 May 2026.

Please ensure that expired stock is disposed of in line with local policies. Any disposed stock should be recorded through the ImmForm stock incident page.

Influenza vaccines for the 2026/27 season

Information on all influenza vaccines that will be marketed in the UK for the 2026/27 season is available here.

Place orders only for delivery on days when your site is open

ImmForm customers should place orders only for delivery on days when their site is open and able to accept the delivery. Non-ImmForm customers should refer to their local ordering guidance.

Delivery failures because of a site being closed create additional, unnecessary workload within the distribution network.

ImmForm customers can use the deferred order function to place orders for future dates when a site is open.

In the case of a one-off closure, ImmForm customers should immediately re-schedule the delivery date of orders due for delivery on that day.

For long-term changes to the days when a site can accept deliveries, ImmForm customers should contact their Movianto Customer Care team with details. Contact details are included on each Movianto Delivery Note. Short-term changes to delivery days cannot be made, for example for absence or holidays.
