Details

This document provides information on typhoid fever, as well as the history and epidemiology of the disease.

Typhoid fever is a systemic infection caused by the gram-negative bacterium Salmonella enterica, subspecies enterica, serotype typhi.

Paratyphoid fever is an illness clinically similar but usually less severe than typhoid and is caused by S. paratyphi A, B and C.

The green book contains further chapters on vaccines and vaccination procedures in the UK.
