The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from PD Teesport Limited.

The site is located within a port area and will accept two waste streams: clean metals and baled Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), classified under EWC 19 12 10. The proposed waste operation comprises a 1.16.6 activity for the outdoor storage and transfer of clean metals and RDF prior to loading onto ships for export, with waste retained onsite within Lego block push-wall bays. The site also includes a 1.3.12 activity involving the direct discharge of surface water runoff, collected via the onsite drainage system after passing through the waste storage area, into the tidal dockside/coastal waters of the River Tees.
