Details of the application
The Environment Agency is applying to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The application is for a licence to impound the River Rother in order to provide a flood alleviation scheme upstream of Chesterfield at National Grid Reference SK 38746 68498.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
Further details of the proposal are: The scheme will consist of a 350 meter long earth embankment not exceeding 4 meters in height, complete with penstock sluice gate, concrete box culvert and wildlife culvert. The scheme has been designed to provide storage for a 1:100 year flood event.
