The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Soilfix Limited.

Regulated facility type
The application is for a bespoke Deposit for Recovery (DfR) permit at the former Wroughton Landfill. The proposal forms part of the enabling works for the redevelopment of the site for housing, associated infrastructure and a cricket pitch.
the proposed DfR activity would involve the recovery and placement of suitable treated landfill derived materials as engineered fill within drainage corridors, highways and other infrastructure works across the development. The permit application does not cover the excavation of historic landfill materials or their remedial treatment. the applicant states that excavation, stockpiling and treatment of former landfill materials will be undertaken separately under a mobile plant deployment.
The waste to be recovered consists of treated materials derived from the historic landfill. The associated Waste Recovery Plan estimates that up to 16,356 m3 of suitable material could be recovered and reused on site as engineering fill.
