Details

The Senior Courts Costs Office can assess:

  • how much you should pay a solicitor in costs and expenses
  • what you can get back in costs from the other side in a court case
  • the amount that lawyers can claim in costs in publicly-funded cases

The guide includes detailed information on:

  • cost management orders
  • the way bills are laid out
  • default costs certificates
  • detailed assessment hearings
  • interest on costs
  • court of protection and legal aid cases

The costs assessments are carried out by costs judges (masters) or authorised court officers.
