Ribble Catchment Conservation Trust Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the River Darwen upstream of Holland Wood Weir, Walton-le-Dale, Preston at National Grid Reference (NGR) SD 56236 27588 to transfer it via a fish pass to the River Darwen downstream of Holland Wood Weir at NGR SD 56203 27603 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 2,509.2 cubic metres an hour
  • 60,220.8 cubic metres a day
  • 21,980,592 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
