Request
I’m trying to establish whether an individual previously held an SIA close protection licence, although he does not appear on the current Register of Licence Holders.
The details I have are:
- name: [redacted]
- date of birth: [redacted]
- licence sector: close protection (and overseas anti-piracy)
Could you please advise whether you are able to confirm whether an SIA close protection licence has ever previously been issued to an individual with these details, and, if so, the approximate period during which it was held?
I appreciate that data-protection restrictions may prevent you from disclosing certain personal information. If you are unable to confirm this directly, I would be grateful if you could advise whether there is any other way of establishing whether an individual appeared historically on the SIA Register of Licence Holders.
Response
We regard the information you have requested to be personal data belonging to a third-party individual. Therefore, we have applied the exemption section 40(2) of the UK Freedom of Information Act 2000. The exemption prohibits the disclosure of personal data belonging to a third-party individual, if complying with the request would, be considered as a breach of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
