I would like to request the following information in relation to the Disclosure and Barring Service:
How many discretionary referrals to the DBS have there been of teachers and any other school staff in England and Wales relating to sexual abuse or other inappropriate sexualised behaviour involving minors in the financial year 2012/13?
How many individuals were barred in the education sector as a result of discretionary referrals for allegations of a sexual nature in the financial year 2012/13?
Of those individuals discretionarily referred to the DBS for allegations of a sexual nature, how many were subsequently given the “all clear” to carry on working in the profession?
A brief summary of the reasons why teachers or any other school staff were not barred following discretionary referral for allegations of a sexual nature to the DBS.
A brief summary of the nature of sexual allegations made through discretionary referrals which resulted in a bar.
The same details listed in points 1 to 5, for the financial years 2010/11 and 2011/12.
If my request is denied in whole or in part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act.
