If you’ve submitted a successful expression of interest for the Sustainable Farming Incentive pilot, read this guidance to find out how you can prepare for and then submit an application.

It explains how to update your details on the Rural Payments service, eligibility, land use, applying the Sustainable Farming Incentive standards and submitting your application. It also gives an outline of what happens after you submit your application.

  1. Changed the date of 'capital items' guidance publication to 2022.

  2. Changed agreement start date from October 2021 to November 2021 at the earliest.

  3. An update to the application deadline. It's now 30 September 2021.

  4. The previous update, about a changed application deadline, was published in error. Reverting to previous application deadline, with an update to follow later today.

  5. The application deadline has been extended. It is now 29 September.

  6. This update removes a small section with outdated details about the soils standards. It updates the information about hedges where an applicant only has control over one of its sides, giving examples and explaining exceptions (the standard has been updated to match).

  9. Added links to 'making an application' and 'changing an application' pages as these were missing previously.

  10. Updated mistaken application date and added links to missing guidance on how to apply online.

  11. This update adds links to new guidance about service navigation and requesting changes to your application. It also adds information about getting a runoff and soil erosion risk assessment when undertaking the water body or soils standards. It adds the section: "If your land is conditionally exempt from Inheritance Tax" Deadlines have also been added. There are some minor updates to wording about changing permissions.
