The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from EP Lynemouth Power Limited.

The facility is a power station operating Large Combustion Plants (LCPs) and falls under the following Schedule 1 listed activity descriptions:
Section 1.1 Part A(1)(a) - Burning any fuel in an appliance with a rated thermal input of 50 or more megawatts.
Section 3.5 Part B(f) - Loading, unloading or storing pulverised fuel ash in bulk prior to further transportation in bulk.
Section 5.4 Part A(1) (b) (iii) - Recovery or a mix of recovery and disposal of non-hazardous waste with a capacity exceeding 75 tonnes per day involving treatment of slags and ashes.
The application is a substantial variation to request a derogation for an emission limit to be above the BAT-AEL under the Section 1.1 Part A(1)(a) activity.
