FOI release

Name of the person who gave the SIA information about me

Published 5 September 2024

Request

I would also suggest that this allegation to the SIA has come from my ex-partner [name redacted] as part of her harassment towards me as she is very aware of implications that may be forthcoming towards me.

If this is the case it will assist in my complaint against her and I would clearly like to understand where it has come from.

I was unaware I had to make you aware unless there were charges brought against and me and a conviction was in place. Without going into too much detail, I have been harassed, controlled and assaulted by this woman numerous times and all her actions are intended to harm me in any way she can.

Please can you advise under GDPR disclosure who provided this information to you as it could form part of the case against [name redacted].

Response

The SIA is unable to confirm who provides information to us.

I can confirm that any information in respect of who, what or where a source of information is or has come from, whether it be about individuals or companies within the private security industry, is exempt from disclosure under section 41(1) FOIA 2000. This is because it constitutes information that has been provided in confidence to the SIA as a public authority and any disclosure of such information would constitute a breach of confidence actionable by whoever or whatever provided such information to us.

For information about how the SIA receives and processes intelligence, you can visit this part of our website: Report security staff or companies to the Security Industry Authority (SIA)
