The Environment Agency has received a new bespoke application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 from Elliott Environmental Drainage Limited.

This is the second consultation/publication of application EPR/ZP3623LZ/A001, deemed necessary due to new information becoming available regarding biological treatment steps and the separation of the phys-chem processes across the two buildings due to interim storage stage.
The application is to allow the site to accept and treat hazardous and non-hazardous waste for biological, physico-chemical and repacking methods. The waste to be accepted at the site will predominately comprise the following: Liquid waste and sludges, including, but not limited to interceptor wastes and jetting sludges, gulley and road sweepings, and wastes to be repackaged prior to removal off site. As a result the following installation and waste operation activities will be added to the permit: x4) Section 5.3 (a)(ii) – Physico-chemical treatment of hazardous waste for disposal (D9) and recovery (R5), x2) Section 5.3 (a)(iv) – Repackaging of hazardous waste for disposal (D14) and recovery (R12), x2) Section 5.3 (a)(i) – Biological treatment of hazardous waste for disposal (D8) and recovery (R3), x2) Section 5.4 (a)(ii) – Physico-chemical treatment of non-hazardous waste for disposal (D9), x2) Section 5.4 (b)(i) – Biological treatment of non-hazardous waste for disposal (D8) and recovery (R3), Section 5.6 – Temporary storage of hazardous waste, x2) Storage and physical-chemical treatment of non-hazardous waste for recovery and storage and physical treatment of non-hazardous waste for recovery.

- a summary of the management system
- an environmental risk assessment
- proposed operating techniques, including an assessment of best available techniques
- management plans to address any key risks
- modelling and monitoring of any significant emissions to air, land or water
- a report on the condition of the site
- raw material usage and measures for energy efficiency and avoiding waste production
