The commissioner’s role is to encourage good practice in the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of slavery and human trafficking offences and in the identification of the victims of those offences.

The commissioner’s strategy details how he intends to work with different statutory agencies that have a duty to co-operate and how he will be working with non-governmental bodies.
