An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Hydrosense Renewables Limited. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract (take) water from the River Weaver at Mill Forge, Church Minshull at National Grid Reference SJ 66802 60843.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 19,944 cubic metres an hour
  • 478,656 cubic metres a day
  • 128,758,464 cubic metres a year

Between 1 January and 31 December inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for hydro-electric power generation.

Hydrosense Renewables Ltd has also applied to the Environment Agency for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Weaver at Mill Forge, Church Minshull at National Grid Reference SJ 66813 60861.

By reinstating the existing washout sluice channel and stabilising the main weir crest at exisiting level, with lowered centre of crest to be straightened and sized to pass agreed residual flow, water will be impounded to create a head for abstraction. Other water will be allowed to exit by gravity flow into approved Larinier fish pass to be collocated with turbine and eel pass at weir right hand side.
