Details

The government has published an initial draft impact assessment to accompany the Customs (Safety and Security Procedures) Regulations 2022.

The assessment sets out the impact of removing safety and security declaration requirements for exported empty units (when moved under a transport contract) and outbound inter-port transhipments.

These measures are designed to reduce burdens and facilitate trade.

A full final impact assessment will be sent to the Regulatory Policy Committee by 1 July 2022 for validation. The final validated impact assessment will be published alongside the legislation.
