An application has been made to the Environment Agency by H Middlewood and Son Limited. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for two full licences to abstract water from

  • Kelk Beck between National Grid Reference TA 09161 58982 and TA 09151 57495
  • Gransmoor Drain between National Grid Reference TA 11400 58800 and TA 11508 58603

The proposal is to abstract water, aggregated between both licences, at the following rates and periods:

  • 54 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,285 cubic metres a day
  • 144,000 cubic metres a year

Between 1 June and 31 October inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for the spray irrigation of crops. Further details are:

  • any licence granted shall have a Hands off Flow (HoF) condition which will state abstraction must cease when the flow as measured at Foston Mill falls below 29.9 megalitres per day
