Gabon: names
This section gives HM Passport Office operational staff information about names in Gabon.
Names in Gabon consist of:
- 1 or more given names (forenames)
- 1 surname
Change of name
A married woman in Gabon keeps her surname after marriage and can choose to:
- continue to use her surname only; or,
- add her husband’s surname after her surname
In the event of a divorce the woman will revert back to her surname or maiden name.
