These are the European Council (EC) regulations for the management and implementation of the 2007 to 2013 European Social Fund (ESF) programme.

Types of costs and expenditure eligible for a contribution from the ESF

Regulation (EC) No 396/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 May 2009 amends Regulation (EC) No 1081/2006 on the European Social Fund to extend the types of costs eligible for a contribution from the ESF.

Regulation (EU) no 1081/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 July 2006 on the European Social Fund repeals Regulation (EC) No 1784/1999. This regulation establishes the tasks of the ESF, the scope of its assistance, specific provisions and the types of expenditure eligible for assistance.

Financial management

Council Regulation (EC) No 284/2009 of 7 April 2009 amends Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006 laying down general provisions on the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund and the Cohesion Fund concerning certain provisions relating to financial management.

Revenue generating projects

Council Regulation (EC) No 1341/2008 of 18 December 2008 amends Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006 laying down general provisions on the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund and the Cohesion Fund, in respect of certain revenue-generating projects.

General provisions

These regulations set out the rules for the implementation of the ESF and other funds. Commission Regulation (EC) No 1828/2006 also includes detailed rules and requirements for information and publicity, and management and control systems.

Council Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006 of 11 July 2006 lays down general provisions on the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund and the Cohesion Fund and repealing Regulation (EC) No 1260/1999.

Commission Regulation (EC) No 1828/2006 of 8 December 2006 sets out rules for the implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006 laying down general provisions on the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund and the Cohesion Fund and of Regulation (EC) No 1080/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Regional Development Fund.
