E C Drummond (Agriculture) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Luke Brook at Marstow, Herefordshire at National Grid Reference SO 55592 21687.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 50 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,200 cubic metres a day
  • 100,000 cubic metres a year
  • At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 13.9 litres per second

Between November and March inclusive in each year.

The water will be abstracted by means of an abstraction basin with a side weir and stored in an above ground reservoir. The water will be used for spray irrigation of crops in the summer months.

The proposed abstraction lies within the Lower Wye Abstraction Licensing Strategy area.
