The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Uniper UK Limited.

Regulated facility type

The existing Environmental Permit enables the operation of an 800 MWth Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT), which is a Section 1.1 Part A(1)(a) listed activity. A substantial variation to the Environmental Permit for the Installation is required to increase the thermal input capacity of the CCGT from 800 MWth to 900 MWth. There will be a reduction in the area included in the Installation Boundary. The application therefore includes a partial low risk surrender (EPR/FP3838EB/S005).
