Details of the application

Coldharbour Mill Trust Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from The River Culm at Coldharbour Mill, Uffculme.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 550 litres per second
  • 1,980 cubic metres an hour
  • 47,520 cubic metres a day
  • 11,717,832 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for Hydroelectric Power Generation.

Water will be abstracted from a mill leat at National Grid Reference (NGR) ST 06248 12195 via an Archimedes Screw turbine with a co-located fish pass. All of the water will be discharged at NGR ST 06248 12184 without intervening use.
