1. Introduction
The Chair welcomed members to the meeting.
2. Chair’s reflections
The Board discussed the proposed approach to the Board Effectiveness Review.
3. Minutes
The Board approved the minutes from the 21 October Board.
Strategy, risk and portfolio
4. CEO update
The Board was updated on and discussed recent developments in the CMA’s portfolio and risk profile. It also reviewed the external guidance tracker and the finance update for P06 (September).
5. Civil engineering
The Board discussed the CMA’s civil engineering market study at interim report stage, noting emerging findings. The Board agreed that the interim report will be signed off for publication by the CEO and Chair.
6. Private dentistry
The Board discussed early scoping work on the private dentistry market, noting emerging issues and potential next steps. The Board agreed that a further proposal will come to the Board for consideration at a future meeting.
7. Consumer enforcement portfolio update
The Board received an update on the CMA’s consumer enforcement portfolio under the new direct enforcement model and discussed strategic ambitions to promote consumer trust and confidence in market and support fair-dealing businesses to comply. The Board noted recent enforcement actions and considered future priorities, including addressing emerging risks.
