An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Canal & River Trust. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from River Aire at National Grid Reference (NGR) SE 57985 26099.

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates all year round:

  • 30 cubic metres per second
  • 108,000 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,592,000 cubic metres a day
  • 570,240,000 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for hydro-electric power generation and fish passage before returning to the River Aire at NGR SE 58102 25907.
