Astley Farms: application made to abstract water

Astley Farms has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Glaven at Thornage, Norfolk at National Grid Reference TG 0606 3710.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 121 cubic metres an hour
- 2,900 cubic metres a day
- 195,000 cubic metres a year
Between November to March inclusive in each year
The water will be used for filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation. The abstraction will be subject to a minimum required flow being passed before abstraction can take place. This proposal will replace an existing authorised abstraction of 45,000 cubic metres per year.
