Details of the application

Argrain Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Kyle between National Grid References SE 49631 70270 and SE 49535 69843 at Raskelf, North Yorkshire.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 45 cubic metres an hour
  • 810 cubic metres a day
  • 60,000 cubic metres a year
  • at an instantaneous rate of 12.5 litres per second
  • between 1 April and 30 September inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for direct spray irrigation of root crops.
