Details

The government will raise the housing revenue account borrowing cap by a total of up to £1 billion in areas of high affordability pressure for local authorities that are ready to start building new homes.

Local authorities will be able to bid for increases in their caps between 2019 to 2020 and 2021 to 2022.

By focusing on areas of high affordability pressure we will be helping local authorities to build more of the right homes, in the right places, and ensuring that the housing market works for all parts of the community.
