Ministerial Medical Technology Strategy Group

The MMTSG brings together government and the medical technologies and diagnostics industry to promote a strong and profitable UK based medical technologies and diagnostics sector.

Role of group

The purpose of MMTSG is to facilitate discussion between government and the medical technology industry of strategic issues of joint interest that:

  • will both help maximise the industry’s contribution to improving the quality of healthcare provided by the NHS and social care system
  • support the industry’s continued growth and prosperity in the UK

Terms of reference

  • The MMTSG has been established to:
    • facilitate strategic discussion between government and the medical technology and diagnostics industry
    • identify ways to help maximise industry’s contribution to improving the quality of healthcare provided by the NHS and social care system
    • to support the industry’s continued growth and prosperity in the UK
  • The Group will consider issues agreed to be of shared strategic importance and receive reports from the joint secretariat concerning progress on relevant matters
  • The MMTSG will be co-chaired by the appropriate government minister and a leading industry executive
  • Government or industry may by agreement of the co-chairs invite other experts to advise the Group
  • The membership of the MMTSG and its terms of reference will be reviewed every 2 years

The MMTSG sector group is currently “paused” by mutual agreement.
