Civil/crime news: LAA annual report and accounts, and DLAC report 2014 to 2015 published

Legal Aid Agency (LAA) annual report published in tandem with Director of Legal Aid Casework (DLAC) report.

The Legal Aid Agency’s (LAA) annual report and accounts for 2014 to 2015 have been published, alongside the Director of Legal Aid Casework (DLAC) report for the same period.

These are the second such reports for the agency since it came into being in April 2013. The legal aid statistics bulletin will be published on 25 June 2015.

The LAA and the DLAC role were created by the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders (LASPO) Act 2012 and the reports document the work carried out under these functions.

For the third year running, the LAA’s accounts are unqualified by the National Audit Office.

Chief Executive Matthew Coats thanked all staff for their hard work. He said:

I see the LAA as a forward thinking organisation which is embracing the changes and opportunities that new ways of working and improved processes are bringing to us all. This is feeding into a positive outlook which we are taking outside the organisation.

That is something which benefits everyone we work with, both inside and outside the LAA. So I’d like to thank all our staff for their hard work. Also, all the members of the LAA Board for their support, oversight and guidance to what is still a very young Executive Agency.
