Belarus: Foreign Secretary condemns crackdown against human rights defenders
The Foreign Secretary has condemned the escalation in repression in Belarus by the authorities.
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said:
This latest assault on human rights organisations and independent media by the Lukashenko regime is a further attempt by the regime to crush freedom and stifle debate.
We call for those detained to be released immediately, along with the hundreds of other people detained on political grounds. The UK stands with the people of Belarus and we continue to work with our partners to hold those responsible for these human rights abuses to account.
