Regulatory action

Monitor has taken action, under the new licence for providers, to ensure that the trust deals with the continuing issues it faces.

Update April 2017

The trust was removed from special measures on 9 November 2016 after making notable improvements. On 4 April 2017 NHS Improvement issued a compliance certificate (PDF, 21.5KB, 1 page) in respect of all the trust’s enforcement undertakings accepted by NHS Improvement on 24 April 2015 as amended on 3 April 2017 (PDF, 72.3KB, 2 pages) , apart from paragraphs 1.3 and 1.7 (insofar as paragraph 1.7 relates to the long term recovery plan). NHS Improvement considers that the requirements for the trust to develop and demonstrate that it could deliver a long term recovery plan, (1.3 and 1.7 as above) and keep that plan under review are redundant and they are no longer effective, as they were superseded by the decision for the trust to enter into a long term partnership arrangement with Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

16 July 2013

The trust has been served notice that it will be put in special measures to fix failings in patient care and hospital governance identified by Prof Sir Bruce Keogh.
