NHS Improvement has accepted enforcement undertakings from the trust, under the licence for providers, to ensure that the trust deals with the continuing issues it faces.
11 December 2017: we have imposed an additional licence condition to ensure the trust has the leadership capacity and capability necessary to address its financial issues.
11 December 2017: following the resignation of the trust’s chair, we have required the trust to appoint an interim chair, Ian Smith.
Previous Regulatory Action
NHS Improvement accepted a new set of financial enforcement undertakings under section 106 of the Health and Social Care Act 2012 (‘the Act’) from King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on 6 July 2017. These enforcement undertakings supersede the undertakings that NHS Improvement accepted from the trust on 1 April 2015.
